As preparation for the 879 experience I spent last week at Camp Circle o' Friends. It is a children's oncology camp at Lake Diefenbaker. There I run a media program for the teen aged campers. We create a podcast, newspaper and television show every day. It was a great reminder about having computers software up to date and bringing everything I could think that we might need. There is no Internet access so everything we create is for the most part original. There is no advanced planningas far as the content of the media products. The campers decide what is important and what they will do each day. This means long days of editing audio and video and late nights delivering the newspaper. Very rewarding experience and it gives an interesting insight into what kids are doing with media. This year was my 10th year at the camp.
